At the rear of a grand proportioned villa in Hawthorn the starting point was to build over an existing ten year old but modern extension. Retaining this work the new project spans up and over incorporating the rear yard and side swimming pool area into its fold.
White external rendered walls flow seamlessly from the original villa and have an unmistakeable sense of their own presence.
Large fins sway over the yard and protect the privacy of the luxury bedroom. Behind the bedroom large enclosures conceal the occupants’ wardrobe, and deeper still the transparent bathroom has a special red-tiled rooftop view. Downstairs the side swimming pool utilises left-over space. The pool is not only a delight for the children, but becomes a reflective contemplative zone to look over and experience changing light affects. Overhanging the pool is a stunning glazed stair that mirrors the shimmer of the water surface below. It is a walk on water.
